The collection primarily relates to Tosuke Hoshimiya and his wife, Sadayo. Correspondence includes letters to various people interned in the US during WWII. The Japanese American Research Project (originally named the Issei History Project) was initiated by Wakamatsu Shigeo, President of the Japanese American citizens League (JACL) in 1960.
